ARIZONA DEFEATS NEVADA IN SEVENTH ANNUAL GILDAN NEW MEXICO BOWL
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Arizona defeats Nevada 49-48 to win the 2012 Gildan New Mexico Bowl. The Wildcats trailed 48-35 with 1:48 remaining and scored 14 points in the final 46 seconds to win…UA also trailed 21-0 in the 1st quarter. Arizona finishes the season at 8-5 while Nevada closes at 7-6. Arizona QB Matt Scott was named the Offensive MVP…Scott completed 28 of 47 passes for 382 yards and 3 TDs…his 382 yards passing and 403 yards total offense are New Mexico Bowl records. Arizona LB Marquis Flowers was named the Defensive MVP...Flowers finished with 10 total tackles, a tackle for loss and an interception Arizona leads the all-time series with Nevada, 2-1-1. Today’s attendance was 24,610. Mountain West Conference teams are 4-3 in the New Mexico Bowl.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – There are 70 out of 124 teams that are eligible to fill one of the 62 open bowl slots this postseason. The teams that have already accepted bids are Nevada (Gildan New Mexico), Utah State (Famous Idaho Potato), BYU and San Diego State (San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia), Louisiana-Lafayette (R+L Carriers), SMU (Sheraton Hawai`i), Air Force (Bell Helicopter Armed Forces) and Navy (Kraft Fight Hunger).
