Temple over Wyoming 37-15 in the sixth Annual Gildan Ne Mexico Bowl
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Temple quarterback Chris Coyer had 240 yards total offense, just 27 fewer than the entire Wyoming football team, Bernard Pierce had a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs and the Owls beat the Cowboys 37-15 in the sixth annual New Mexico Bowl on Saturday afternoon.
Coyer threw for 169 yards and one touchdown and added 71 rushing yards, doing the bulk of his damage in the first half as Temple (9-4) of the Mid-American Conference beat a 21-0 second-quarter lead.
The Mountain West’s Cowboys (8-5) appeared poised for a comeback when quarterback Brett Smith hit Josh Doctson on a 21-yard touchdown pass with 37 seconds left in the half.
